2020 BBCOR White Bat Ban

2020 BBCOR White Bat Ban

(College Only)

Effective September 1st, 2019, NCAA, the governing body for college baseball, adopted a rule that effectively bans the use of any primarily white BBCOR bat.

UPDATE on March 2, 2020: According to Iowa Westen CC Head Coach, Marc Rardin, the NJCAA (Governing Body for Junior College Baseball) will NOT allow the use of any white barreled bats for the 2020 season and beyond. We will continue to update this blog as more information is provided to us.

The BBCOR White Bat Ban will be enforced beginning in the Fall of the 2019 NCAA season. JustBats.com strives to be a leading source in new baseball information and we appreciate that many of our customers turn to us for this type of information. We would like to stress that the impact felt by this rule is still unknown for many mandatory BBCOR leagues. We will continue updating this blog as we are made aware of any alterations to the rule.

What About High School?

The National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) is not following the NCAA with this rule change. As of October 4, 2019, all BBCOR certified bats will be allowed to be used at the high school level. We will update this if we are made aware of any change in the future.

Will Older Bats Be Allowed?

No. Regardless of their release date, white BBCOR bats will not be allowed for use in NCAA play. Manufacturers have been made aware of the change and will be releasing alternative options as we move forward.
