4 Reasons To Root For Tim Tebow

Have you heard? Former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow is attempting to become a professional baseball player.

Yes, everyone is talking about Tim Tebow trying out for America's pastime. And, we've seen before where great athletes from other sports dabble in baseball (ex. Michael Jordan, Bo Jackson, etc.). But, according to Fox Sports, Tim Tebow has a 0% chance of making it in basebal l. Quite simply, JustBats thinks that is an unfair evaluation, as is the criticism Tebow is currently facing for his decision.

Really, fans of baseball should be cheering on Tebow. Why? Here are the 4 reasons baseball fans should root for Tim Tebow:

  1. Work Ethic: It's a common misconception that baseball players are lazy when compared to other sports' athletes.  Nobody works and plays harder than Tim Tebow, as explemfied by his NFL Off-Season WorkoutTebow even says, “It’s not always about the workout, it’s about the work ethic.” An athlete with a great work ethic makes it in baseball it would prove that baseball takes just as much hard work as the other sports.
  2. For Love Of The Game: Tebow loves the game of baseball. He said, “The second hardest decision I’ve ever made (in sports) was giving up baseball.” His first hardest decision? Giving up football. He hasn’t played organized baseball since his junior year of high school, but it doesn't seem right to discourage anyone who loves the game to not play it.
  3. Fun To Watch: Tebow is strong, athletic, and adds a great storyline. During his workout in front of about MLB scouts, Tebow hit eight balls over the fence during batting practice at USC's Dedeaux Field. This included shots that cleared a scoreboard and reached the trees in right field. Additionally, he ran a 6.8 second 60 yard dash (Mike Trout's last recorded 60 time was 6.4 seconds).
  4. He's Actually Good: Tebow was an All-State player in the state of Florida his junior year of high school with a .494 average, 30 RBIs, and four home runs. H is raw power category is near the top, but we already knew that. His run, arm, and glove category reviews are about average. In reality, they’re above average for someone who hasn’t played competitive baseball since 2004-05.
