Due to their popular baseball gloves, Rawlings is unfairly pegged as a baseball glove company. Oh, but the times, they are a changing.
Now, Rawlings is garnering praise for their baseball bats. For 2017, Rawlings has introduced the VELO BBCOR baseball bat (BB7V). With the BBCOR model, the Rawlings VELO features an extreme balance, explosive swing speed, and enhanced pop. And while the 2016 Rawlings VELO (BBRV3) is well regarded, the 2017 version maximizes the ping sound and introduces new features that players have already enjoyed.
The Rawlings VELO series has been highly reviewed and continues to be popular on the market with players and coaches alike. Here is what some of those players, parents, and coaches had to say about the VELO:
"My son had to jump to a BBCOR for next spring. Did some research and asked some other coaches. The Velo was highly recommended. Nice suprise. Well balanced, swing and hitting power! Not as traditionally dead for most BBCOR bats."
"This bat is extremely well balanced and has great pop. I've had this bat for about a month now and it still feels brand new. The only issue I have is the grip. It's rough on the hands/batting gloves (at least in my experience) and it tore on me after a couple weeks of use. A lizard skin would be a good quick fix to this nearly perfect bat."
"Has a great sound with great pop. The grip tape is amazing. No need to buy lizard skin."
As you can see, the 2017 Rawlings VELO BBCOR baseball bat is a big hit already. The bat's features include:
- -3 Length to Weight Ratio
- 2 5/8 Inch Barrel Diameter
- Acoustic Alloy - Loudest Alloy on the Market!
- Available in 1/2 Inch Sizes
- BBCOR Certified - Approved for High School and Collegiate play
- Extremely well balanced
- Full twelve (12) month manufacturer's warranty
- One-piece alloy construction
- Precision laster pOp 2.0 - lasered groove through sweet spot increases flex and pop
- Silver Comp Lite End Cap - fiber reinforced composite to improve balance
The VELO's Silver Comp Lite composite end cap is fiber reinforced and removes unnecessary weight from the end of the barrel, shifting the MOI towards the player's hands. Like the 2016 VELO, the bat provides increased swing speed and beautiful cosmetics. But, the differentiator is the enhanced pop. This is displayed (or, more accurately, heard) from the acoustic alloy. But, while the ping sound is fun, it does serve a purpose. The acoustic alloy enhances the durability.
