This week's player of the week is George Brett. George was born on May 15, 1953 in the town of Glen Dale, West Virginia. He had a 21-year baseball career spent entirely with the Kansas City Royals where he played as a third basemen, first basemen and a designated hitter. Brett is one of only four players in the history of the MLB to accumulate a total of 3,000 hits, 300 home runs and have a career .300 batting average. In 1999 he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.

George Brett has made many accomplishments throughout his baseball career, too many to list on this page actually, but here are a few to highlight: He was selected as an All-Star 13 years in a row, spanning from 1976 to 1988, World Series champion with the Royals in 1985 and in that same year he snagged the Gold Glove Award, he is a three time Silver Slugger Award winner, AL MVP, ALCS MVP, and the list goes on and on.

He had an extremely accomplished career with the Royals and continues to be a part of the organization today. He is currently the Vice President of Baseball Operations for the Royals and he has also worked as a part-time coach. Brett also operates a baseball equipment and foam-hand company called Brett Bros. Their bats can be found on JustBats.com by clicking here.

Brett also continues to raise money for ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) or more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.
