Louisville Slugger MLB Prime Birch Bat

Louisville Slugger, one of the oldest and most respected names in baseball, has released its newest addition to the MLB Prime Series with three new Birch models. The use of Birch in wood bats has become more popular over the last few years because it offers great durability with a flexible, lightweight feel.

Each of the MLB Prime Birch models are ink-dot certified to ensure the bat meets true MLB slope of grain ratings. Straighter wood grain improves the durability of the bat and reduces vibration on contact. Only bats crafted from the highest quality wood billets are allowed to be named an MLB Prime.

Listed below are some of the characteristics that make a Prime model one of the best wood bat options on the market today:

MLB Prime Veneer Wood
Louisville Slugger only awards the MLB Prime Veneer name to its best quality wood. This high quality wood gives each Prime model extreme durability and a super-responsive barrel.

360 Degree Compression
An exclusive compression process, superior to bone rubbing, is used on all Prime bats which guarantees 360 degrees of hardness and eliminates soft spots.

Amish Craftsmanship
Each wood billet used in a Prime model is cut by hand, in the Amish style, and vacuum dried to increase its strength.

Advanced Finish System
All grains and cavities in the wood are filled prior to the application of three layers of topcoat seal. This technique allows the Prime models to receive a 9H hardness rating and the hardest finish of any wood bat on the market.
