David Americo Ortiz Arias was born November 18th, 1975 in the Dominican Republic. He is known as David Ortiz and carries the nickname "Big Papi". He currently is a professional baseball player for the Boston Red Sox and before that the Minnesota Twins. Ortiz has had several professional accomplishments during his career, some of which include: Red Sox season record holder for home runs at 54 during the 2006 season, awarded as being the "greatest clutch-hitter in the history of the Boston Red Sox", 2005 Hank Aaron Award winner, 5-time winner of the Silver Slugger Award, has led the American League in runs and home runs and these are just a few of many. Ortiz is also very big into charity and in 2007 he founded the David Ortiz Children's Fund that supports several different causes that he feels very strongly about. When it comes down to it Ortiz is a well rounded player with a home run hitter with the track record to prove it.
