Pro Athlete, Inc. would like to thank the Kansas City Business Journal for organizing a Best Places to Work in Kansas City competition.
A cowboy theme adorned this year's Best Places To Work in Kansas City luncheon and it was downright impressive. The Kansas City Business Journal lassoed 30 businesses, who work equally on employee and company growth, through a haystack-size pile of applicants to choose three winners.
The show is well-rehearsed, and the orchestration of it is very professional which adds to the fun. There's a meet and greet in front of the conference room, then at 11:30, we all file in to our assigned seats.
Slideshows from all the participants are scrolling on large screens near the stage. The photos scrolling showed company personnel in heart-warming, personal, and funny scenarios. There's a professional master of ceremonies, pianist, and announcer which makes the whole experience refreshing.
There are three categories for company classification; small, medium, and larges. As they go through each company in a category, the team members present are encouraged to hoot and holler, so it's a tad frightening to hear people shrieking about. Some of the teams wore the same clothes.
Lunch is served while we watch some promotional videos from the sponsors. This year, we were served squash soup, barbecue chicken, and cheesecake for dessert. The videos were funny and the food was excellent, then we moved on to announcing the winners.
As the winners were listed, previously unmentioned things about what makes that business so special were saved for a final company overview. It's truly amazing to hear all the things these companies do to help people in the community and what perks they offer their employees. One company listed beer Friday's and it was received with the most applause. Go figure - the event was held on Friday.
Although Pro Athlete, Inc. did not win this year, we are already working on the requirements for 2012. This is our third strike possibility so we take this competition very seriously. See you next year.
