Monday Meet And Greet: Jodi S

Posted by Megan P on Mar 26, 2012 11:13:44 AM

Every Monday we’d like you to meet someone new around here at JustBats.com. Get to know us a little better! Meet Jodi! Jodi is one of our Accountants and she makes sure that the money around here gets handled and the numbers get input correctly! Here is what makes Jodi tick.

1. How long have you worked here at JustBats.com?
I have worked here for two years
2. Tell us a little bit about what you do here at JustBats.com.
I have two main responsibilities. I work directly for Scott. That means doing whatever is needed so he can focus on growing the company. And I work for the accounting department. I mainly input invoices into NAV so they can be paid.
3. What do you like most about working at JustBats.com?
The best part about working here is the atmosphere. The people make it very team oriented.
4. As an accountant you are probably use to dealing with a lot of numbers, can that ever get overwhelming?
I don't get crushed by the numbers because I mainly input them. However, there are times I have to act like a detective to find out if an invoice is correct and if we received what we are being billed for.
5. What words of advice do you have for anyone coming into your line of work?
Be flexible to do whatever is asked of you.
6. What do you enjoy doing outside of work?
I love sports. I like both watching and playing. Mainly though, I go to my kids activities. I support them in what they are involved with.....which right now is a lot of dance.
7. Give us your favorite memory you have since working at JustBats.com.
I like Opening Day at JustBats.com. It is our own personal holiday. It is fun to have the ball park atmosphere brought into JustBats.com for the day.
8. What is your favorite sport and team?
I grew up playing softball and volleyball; but I like to watch football and baseball. KC teams are my favorites.
9. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I would love to live somewhere warm year round. But I would never give up living away from the rest of my family.
10. How did you hear about JustBats.com?
Mr. Scott Hedrick told me about his company a little bit at a time. I was so impressed with his passion for his business and for those who worked for him I knew I had to take a risk to become part of his team at JustBats.com.

JustBats.com Department Of The Month: Accounting

Posted by Megan P on Mar 14, 2012 4:10:21 PM

Every month we would like to introduce you to a department at JustBats.com. Each department around here plays a key role in making sure everything runs smoothly and you get your bats in a timely manner, while having a great experience shopping with us. Meet the Accounting team, this department keeps the finances straight and makes sure not a penny goes unnoticed!

1. Tell us a little bit about the Accounting team.
Right now there are four members of the accounting team, they are Jodi Smith, Mark Reineke, Pam Reynolds and Stephanie Garcia
2. What kind of responsibilities does each person in Accounting take on everyday?
The accounting department is responsible for entering payables, receivables, updating reports, bank reconciliations and many other things.
3. Are there any major challenges you face daily, weekly or even monthly with handling the financial aspects of JustBats.com?
One of the major challenges we face is making sure everything is entered and getting the month-end-close done on time.
4. What would you say you look for the most in someone wanting to join the Accounting team?
Being very detail oriented is an important quality to have in our department. Without that, the financials probably would not be very accurate.
5. We all know with work there has to be some play, tell us about some of the perks of being in accounting.
Our department is pretty small so we are a pretty close group. We all know a lot about each other and we joke around a lot.
6. Handling money can often times be overwhelming, how do you and your team stay organized?
We have good systems setup to make sure that nothing gets missed.
7. What is the best part about being on the accounting team here at JustBats.com?
We have a lot of very important deadlines in our department that require us to work very well as a team. We are always willing to help each other out to make sure that we meet those deadlines. It's great to work with a group of people that are fun to be around and that you can count on.
